UFV
Educational Technologist Extraordinaire
British Columbia, Canada
I’m working alongside an excellent team of educators and support staff who are devoted to the success of UFV’s students and the future of our local and global communities. Getting here started in 2000 when I launched my professional teaching career in Japan. Thirteen years later, my family and I came (back) to Canada and I have been teaching in colleges and schools ever since. I now spend most of my professional life at ETS supporting faculty in designing their online and hybrid courses.

21st century learning and the 21st workplace demand a new approach to pedagogy, which I strive to understand, harness, and promote in the classroom. Through consultations, workshops and presenting at conferences I help develop an understanding of the demands on students and their challenges and I can share information and ideas with faculty who visit ETS.

At UFV, we instill the values of being lifelong learners, and faculty and staff demonstrate this by being one ourselves. I have recently completed my M.Ed. with a focus on distance education and attend workshops and conferences that help me introduce proven teaching practices and technologies into the classroom. I can now put those into practice in my own classroom and experience the outcomes first-hand.

It has been an exciting journey to become an Instructor and Educational Technologist at UFV, and it fills me with pleasure to see the excitement, anxiousness and uncertainty in the faces of my students knowing their journey is just getting underway.
