Self-assessment and reflection constitute the third ingredient of teaching assessment, in addition to documentation of the teaching activities and data collection on effectiveness and perception. The commonly used format for this is the teaching dossier (or portfolio), including the teaching philosophy statement. In this workshop, participants will get started on preparing their own dossier by reviewing the rationale for and scope of teaching dossiers, and comparing several models for teaching dossiers in various disciplines. They will explore how to create a Philosophy of Teaching statement, discuss approaches for documenting teaching activities as well as course reflections, and engage in peer review of the results
