The goal of this workshop is to familiarize faculty members with these options, how they can be implemented, their pros and cons, and the type, breadth and depth of information they can provide. While there will be an initial increase in workload when implementing these methods, a combination of multiple methods (e.g. surveys, observations, reflection) and data sources (students, peers, self) is not only suggested in SFU policies, it is also widely recommended as a more equitable, balanced, and realistic approach that allows for alignment with an individual instructor’s career path.
This session will also address the more technical requirements for both the Tenure and Promotion process (e.g. documentation of teaching and related activities) and bi-annual review as well as information on what TPCs are looking for in their assessment (e.g. reflection and progress).
